Lore Plausible :
We are not lore strict, however we are lore compliant. If you can creatively make something that makes sense within the game's established lore and setting (racial civilization, voidsents, eikons, DoH/DoL questline, etc) then you are welcome to. We are aware some bits of lore are open ended and much goes unanswered. However, if something is stated impossible or otherwise by any of the following; game, interviews, sources that have been officially given/written by SE, etc.--then we will follow such.If there is nothing in the lore that contradicts it and there's space in the lore for it to exist, then it's up to you as the creator of the character to convince others your character is plausible within the universe. We are not trying to prevent your creativity, but keep everyone on the same page during events.

If for some reason your character suddenly ceases to exist for you. It does not mean they cease to exist for us. Please do your best to refrain from retconing. We personally do not allow retcons here unless you have a very good reason.

Canon NPCs & Connections:
Please do not roleplay as established NPCs (such as Scions) or The Warrior of Light (MSQ equivalent) here. Nor characters connected to such individuals (ex. Y'sthola's armcandy). If for some reason you plan to do so, then remember the setting and be vague about it.You may roleplay as A "Warrior of Light" (AKA 'a hero'), and you may even have your version of echo (weaker than the WoL's that complies with echo examples described in canon lore). A: Yes, so long as you're subtle about it. I've actually had a Thancred walk up to me once for some light roleplay. He never mentioned he was Thancred, just a traveler. If for whatever reason you enjoy roleplaying in this format, remember to be subtle about it. Besides, Yugen doesn't know what a thancred even is. I'm pretty sure the majority of the characters here IC don't either. Remember the setting and be vague about it!Q: I roleplay my own version of [insert race here], is that alright?
A: Yes, again so long as you make it lore plausible. We recommend you also don't double down on already taken names. For example;- A dragon (but from another IP, tabletop, book, etc.) -> [Insert made up race name here]*
- An Elezen from aquatic clan -> Instead of calling them 'Wildwood' or 'Duskwight', give them a new clan.***This is because dragons are already established in the game's lore pretty well. So much that there has been at least one sort of incident with them in every expansion, with an entire one (Heavensward) even explaining them a bit more in detail. You can take a dragon from somewhere else and call them something like Draken or whatever and it'd help lessen confusion. We already have aliens walkin' around all over after all. Shantotto from a very old crossover event Burgeoning Dread in 2014 already told us there was cross dimensional travel (As she insulted us and called us too dumb to comprehend her magics anyways). Remember, all crossover events are canon and typically reported in canon by the newspapers. Lore is very forgiving in this game. Just don't be cringe--or do--but keep it low! KEK
**An example of this was given by the official team when explaining Gotetsu who is technically a Roegadyn, HOWEVER--just not a Hellsguard or Sea Wolf, but one that came from the Far East.
